Full Metal Jaket

I was watching "Full Metal Jacket" a film by Stanley Cubric, and i began thinking about the war propaganda. Like in above image derived from the movie you can clearly see two binaries of the war. On one hand you have "Born to kill" a radical teaching about the ruthlessness of war. And on the other you have an opposing peace sign. I was also checking out some older Soviet Union Propaganda posters that really project pathos into your head. They capture your imagination with words of honor or quotes of freedom. Many contaminate your mind with ideals of right and wrong; the enemy and the protagonist. Just as the opposing forces on the helmet above, there are many opposing forces in life. What i am trying to get that is that art can be used as a means of manipulation. Such strong power as government can take advantage of you by capturing your imagination with sense of adventure, and purpose. For example the commercials from todays National Reserve. They always portray the army as a changing life experience. They never project the negative side of the army like death of a friend or murder. That is why i like the image above, because it gives you a clear idea about what you are getting in when you join.
